The version of 'Tears In The Rain' here differs from the Original version (under the Steve Gibbs moniker) that was included several months previously on the Platipus Records Volume Seven release. The Original version with it's long intro, rain storm samples, and it's greater emphasis on melody is more musical, where as the version on this single release is more generically club friendly.
More solid work from Altitude. The two tracks "Marrakech" and "Tears In The Rain" could hardly be more different from each other.... Marrakech has a very strong middle-eastern feel to the track, as the title suggests. I can definitely hear the typical Platipus sound of the 90s coming through in this track a little bit. Those eery, middle-eastern noises that form the melody remind me of another Platipus release, Art of Trance vs POB - Turkish Bizarre. I think this track has a unique sound and it would be great as a set-starter. Very solid work! Tears In The Rain is more of an upbeat, summery tune reminiscent of tracks like Blank & Jones - Watching The Waves. The piano breakdown in this track is quite peaceful and relaxing, before the track build up again. I find the synths after the break to be a little cheesy, and it seems to me like there are too many things going on at once. It kind of sounds a little cluttered. I would give it a 2.5/5 rating.
